Box care and important information
This bird box has a 25mm entrance hole, suitable for blue tits, coal tits & marsh tits.
When hanging, to avoid weakening the box, add fixings or a bracket to the main body, not the upper gable end or roof.
Position the box away from any other nesting boxes or bird feeders.
Choose a location that will shelter the box from the weather and direct sunlight. Ideally between 1 and 3 metres from the ground and not easily accessible to predators. Birds will need a clear flight path straight to the entrance, and the hole should not be obstructed by foliage.
Consider adding a metal plate around the entrance hole to deter squirrels.
Birds start looking for potential nesting sites from the latter half of February. Some birds may roost in a nesting box during the winter months if you have the box in place.
Check the box for damage and clean it out every January. Undo the screws on the front to open the door and access the inside. Never approach, move, or open the box whilst it is use.
